2. Is mentorship a thing of the past?

I love to learn. What can I say? I am a ball of curiosity. I believe learning is key to improving your life. And at the same time I believe in the importance of being grateful for what you have and where you’re at.

That being said, I would love to have a mentor. Someone willing to take me under their wing. To bring me along to their speaking events, or book launch, or you know… Just someone who is a call away and willing to invest time and energy into someone younger and excitable.

Problem is, they seem to be hard to find. This makes sense, because there’s only so many professionals willing to step into the mentor role, and a ton of wannabe-mentees looking for someone to coach them.

I suppose having a business coach is similar to having a mentor, except with business coaches there’s usually an exchange in money. And when the exchange is finished and the end date has arrived, then what? Then they no longer guide you…

Unlike mentors who love to and choose to share their knowledge and experiences with their younger ‘self’.

An interesting solution I read about this involved thinking of your heroes and how they would respond to your questions. Imagine you’re sitting across one of your idols. Let me namedrop a few here. For example: Mel Robbins, Gary V, Chris Do, Tony Robbins, Marie Forleo — Someone who inspires you is sitting across from you. And you have all of the questions! Imagine… How would they respond to your question?

If you know your idols, — or heroes — well enough, surely you could formulate some kind of answer that would hypothetically come out of their mouth, right?

Sure. It’s not the same as someone who’s personally there for you. But in the meantime, this could be a nice and easy solution. 😊

Please share with me if you have a mentor and how you found them. I would love to get inspired by you!

I hope you enjoyed this blog. I find myself still being a bit rusty when it comes to weekly blogging. Well, it’s only blog 2/52, so perhaps I should be a little kinder about my own writing. And so this will get uploaded… Now…

Okay now
Until next time!

Keep smiling,
