6. The link between courage and connection.

The internet. We all know it by now, we use it daily and probably cannot think of a world without it anymore. It made me wonder the following:

“How come some people thrive on the internet and some don’t?”

Disclaimer: I am specifically talking about people who have the desire to be seen online.

Are they prettier? Not necessarily. Everyone is beautiful in their own way.

Are they more successful? Not really, right? It’s all relative.

I think it’s because the people who show up online are courageous.
They do just that. They show up, courageously. They don’t let the possibility of receiving people’s opinions slow them down or stop them.

I have to say that I admire that. It’s hard for me to show up online sometimes, and I even trained as a musical theatre performer, so some part of me loves having an audience. Another part of me is sensitive and introverted. (p.s. hello omniverts!)

Maybe it’s hard for me because of what happened in high school or because of previous comments I have received — specifically about my quirkiness-, none of that matters now.

All that matters now is that I believe I want to make meaningful connections. And they happen worldwide through the internet.

If I step up, and decide to be courageous… Then I will inevitably connect with my people. The people who possibly recognise themselves in my behaviour. Who I can inspire. Perhaps even befriend.

And I don’t want to stand in my own way of that opportunity.

Some days I might feel more courageous than the next, but I hereby promise myself and the world that I will show up.

I will let myself be seen. Judgement or love. Friend or foe.

For there is no light without darkness.

Love,

Esmée
